After a 56-17 win over Lyon College, No. 18 Arizona Christian swept the Central States Football League Player of the Week Honors. Quarterback Ryan Esslinger was named the Offensive Player of the Week, linebacker Josh Carter was dubbed the Defensive Player of the Week and punter Derek Brush was selected as the Special Teams Player of the Week.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Ryan Esslinger - Senior, Quarterback - Arizona Christian University

6-1, 200 lbs. - La Habra, California

Esslinger accounted for 299 of Arizona Christian's 509 offensive yards and was responsible for five touchdowns in the Firestorm's 56-17 win over Lyon College. The senior quarterback completed 27-of-36 (75%) passes for 267 yards and had three passing touchdowns. He rushed for 32 yards on eight carries and posted two rushing touchdowns.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Josh Carter - Senior, Linebacker - Arizona Christian University

Carter intercepted a pass at the Lyon 17-yard line and returned it for a touchdown with the Firestorm trailing 3-0 to start the second quarter. After his pick six, ACU led for the remainder of the game. The linebacker posted eight total tackles, with two of them solo stops. He had a tackle for a loss that amounted to a one-yard loss.


SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Derek Brush - Senior, Punter - Arizona Christian University

Brush averaged 48 yards per punt against Lyon College and raised his NAIA leading punt average to 45.6 yards per punt. He punted for 192 yards on four punts and had a long punt of 57 yards. Brush was a perfect 8-for-8 in PAT's and averaged 63 yards per kick off, raising his season average to 62.5 yards.
