Jaylen Lowe and James Cox of Langston and Derek Brush of Arizona Christian were named this week's Central States Football League's Players of the Week. Lowe, a junior quarterback, was named the Offensive Player of the Week; Cox, a sophomore inebacker was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week; and senior punter/kicker, Brush, was named the Special Teams Player of the Week. 

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Jaylen Lowe - Langston

Junior, Quarterback; 6-0, 200 lbs; Collinsville, Oklahoma 

Lowe completed 17 of 23 passes (74% completion) for 202 yards and two touchdowns in Langston's 41-14 conference opening victory over Lyon College.  The junior quarterback from Collinsville, OK also rushed 12 times for 72 yards in the win.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

James Cox – Langston; Sophomore, Linebacker; 6-1, 230 lbs.; Hammond, Louisiana

Cox had a sack and an interception for a touchdown for the No. 22 ranked Lions. His interception return for a touchdown was for 98 yards. The sophomore posted five solo stops and two assisted tackles, while recording two tackles for a loss of nine yards.


SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Derek Brush – Arizona Christian; Senior, Punter/Kicker; 6-2, 200 lbs.; Whittier, California

Brush scored two points for Arizona Christian, hitting both PAT's that he tried. He added three punts for an average of 41.3 yards with a long punt of 55 yards. Brush kicked off six times, averaging 64.7 yards with five touchbacks.
