Three student-athletes were named as Players of the Week by the Central States Football League. Ryan Esslinger, senior quarterback at Arizona Christian, was named the CSFL Offensive Player of the Week; Dominick Bell, Oklahoma Panhandle State University senior linebacker, was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week; and Tluang Hmung, a sophomore kicker from Southwestern Assemblies of God University was awarded the Special Teams Player of the Week. 

Ryan Esslinger

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Ryan Esslinger – Arizona Christian

Senior, Quarterback; 6-1, 200 lbs.; La Habra, California             

Esslinger carried Arizona Christian to a 34-28 opening day win over Simon Fraser while passing for 263 yards and two passing touchdowns. He completed 26-of-43 passes, while having a hand in the first three Firestorm touchdowns. The senior also ran for 30 yards on nine rushing attempts and opened the scoring for the game, scoring on a four-yard rush.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Dominick Bell – Okla. Panhandle St.

Senior, Linebacker; 5-11, 240 lbs.; Long Beach, California
 
Bell led Oklahoma Panhandle State University's defense to a 10-0 shutout in the Aggies home opener against McMurry University. He recorded 10 total tackles, including seven solo stops. Bell posted 3.5 tackles for loss that totaled 31 lost yards. The senior linebacker also recorded 2.5 sacks on the day.

Tluang Hmung

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Tluang Hmung – SW Assemblies

Sophomore, Kicker; 5-8, 145 lbs.; Lewisville, Texas

Hmung was a perfect 9-of-9 in PAT's while scoring nine points in Southwestern Assemblies of God's 63-34 victory over Howard Payne. The sophomore kicker averaged 53.8 yards while kicking off 10 times.
