Scottsdale, AZ- On Saturday, Arizona Christian football had a chance to honor their past and future at the National Football Foundation Scholar Athlete Awards Banquet.  Graduated Senior Brennan Bowen and Freshman Recruit Maverick Gamez represented ACU football.

The 36th Annual Scholar Athlete Banquet for the Valley of the Sun Chapter of the National Football Federation & Hall of Fame took place at the Hilton Scottsdale Resort & Villas.

Bowen, the offensive lineman who graduated in December with a degree in secondary education and was an integral part of the first three seasons of Arizona Christian football, was selected as a 2017 college scholar athlete for the chapter.   Bowen was named a Top 50 First Team NFF Scholar Athlete back in 2011 when graduating from Westview High School.

Ready to continue the Firestorm legacy is Gamez- the senior quarterback from Verrado High School.  Gamez was named a 2017 Top 50 First Team NFF Scholar Athlete.  Gamez was also named the Fiesta Bowl scholar recipient.

Bowen and Gamez join PJ Sparks, the former ACU running back honored last year, as the only three Firestorm to achieve the NFF honor.

Gentleman- you are great past, present, and future representatives of the Firestorm family.  Congratulations on the distinguished honor!  Roll Storm.
